With over four decades of medical excellence, he has played a transformative role in advancing cancer care in India.
Dr. Deshpande is the Promoter-Director and Executive Chairman of the Asian Institute of Oncology and Director of the Asian Cancer Foundation, Mumbai. He is also the Chairman of ACI Cumballa Hill Hospital and has been instrumental in building world-class yet affordable cancer care facilities.
Introduced Thoracoscopic surgery in India and established minimally invasive thoracoscopy for thoracic cancers such as lung, oesophageal, and mediastinal tumours.
From 1982 onwards, he popularized thoracoscopy through lectures, live demonstrations, and clinical practice.
Pioneered advanced surgeries for upper oesophageal carcinoma and established the Department of Robotic Surgery at ACI Mumbai in 2015.
